A Brief Overview on Eyelid Piercing


Today body piercing devotees has left no part in the body that cannot get pierced. Getting an eyelid pierced is one of those things that are seen very rare and are not very common at all and is perceived in only those people who have got a brave heart.  As the name indicates an eyelid piercing goes through the eyelid of the person and the jewelry that is used for getting the eye lid pierced is called as the captive bead ring.  Even though getting your eyelids pierced can be very cool at times but it also involves some dangers and risks that cannot be circumvented. 

The eyelid piercing can be done by the help of using the clamps but sometimes it can also be done by free hands.  First of all a sharp needle is taken and is inserted through the eyelids and after the hole is thru a captive bead ring is then inserted. Because there is a close proximity to the eyeballs the piercing should be done only by those who are professional in this field and know what they are doing.  The suitable materials for the eyelid piercing may include surgical stainless steel and titanium along with niobium. 

Usually aftercare of eyelid piercing is very important to know and consider. It includes the rinsing and the washing of piercing by the help of a saline solution.  For the cleaning purposes you can use Q-tips. Generally getting your eyelids pierced may result in redness, swelling, and most of all pain so during beginning sleeping can become very difficult because of the swelling. Moreover there can also be pus formation, bleeding and swelling very time you wake up in the morning. 

Other issues may involve bacterial infections due to which there can be high amount of pain, the redness might increase and there is more thickness of the discharge from the wound.  You are advised not to get rid of the jewelry before seeking any kind of medical help because doing so may cause the prevention of pus drainage but an abscess might form.  The feel after getting eyelid piercing done is similar to an eye lash struck in the eye.  Due to the high risks that are involved this type of piercing is not recommended or appreciated since it can easily risk your eyesight.
